Camrose is hosting the Canada World Youth, Canada/Khayelitsha, South Africa Women's Youth exchange program this coming fall. Be part of this global experience by being a host family. Discover different parts of Canada and South Africa without leaving home.

Canada World Youth is an amazing organization that aims to prepare a new generation of global citizens. This is achieved through its international educational programs for youth (aged 17 to 24), which focuses on volunteer work and community development in a cross-cultural setting. CWY is a six-month program. The first three months are spent in a Canadian community, Camrose in this project and the last three are spent in a South African community, Khayelitsha, South Africa.

Canada World Youth is currently looking for families interested in providing accommodation to a Canadian youth and a South African youth who are participating in our international educational program.

You can get involved by becoming a host family. We invite all types of households—retirees, singles, single parents, same sex etc. to share their daily activities with Canada World Youth participants. One goal of the program is to integrate participants into your family's everyday life, minimizing your need to alter your lifestyle while you are hosting. By hosting two volunteers, you will also discover new cultures! In addition, host families receive a monthly allowance of $720. Volunteers will be living with Canadian families form Sept. 2 to Nov. 15.

What are the benefits of hosting? Make new friends, both in your own community and across the globe, exchange ideas and gain new insights; share your routine with an enjoyable and exciting pair of youth; introduce your children to a different world perspective; experience your community through new eyes; become a part of the "global village"; make a difference in the lives and education of two young people while having the time of your life. For more information please contact Claire Allen or Nozuko Masiba at 780-678-7998 or callen@cwy-jcm.org

Program wish list includes friendly faces to welcome our group into your community of Camrose; short and long term volunteer placements in Camrose for the volunteers (available in sets of two to 20); bikes for group to use as transportation while in Camrose; office space for the two project supervisors; resource people willing to share their knowledge and experiences with the group; assess to local attractions in exchange for hours of volunteer work; make a difference in the lives and education of 20 young people while having the time of the life.
