An illegal home invasion during Halloween on a legal marijuana grow operation provided for a scary situation on a Camrose acreage.
At 12:15 a.m., local RCMP received a dispatch that two unknown males wearing black ski masks and dark clothing had forced their way into a residence. Once inside the two males assaulted and forcibly confined the lone male occupant, according to the Camrose RCMP.
The two males then removed a large amount of, legally permitted medicinal marihuana plants from the home and departed with the victim's vehicle. Investigators believe the legalized marijuana grow operation, which the homeowner had a licence to possess, was specifically targeted and they do not deem this incident to be a random act of violence.
The owner of the residence was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where he was held until morning with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP continue to investigate the theft and are asking people to be on the look out for a white 2002 Dodge Dakota containing a 120 gallon water tank in the back.
If you have any information regarding this investigation or know the identity of the suspects, please contact the Camrose RCMP at 780-672-3342 or call Crime Stoppers.
