Whittleton named Bawlf vice-principal

Patrick Whittleton who has taught at Daysland School for over 10 to 15 years, is now vice-principal at Bawlf School.

At Daysland School, the school is updating the English classroom and the old tiles that date back to 1997, have to go to make room for the new tiles. Past students are welcome.

It is time for all little boys and girls to write a letter to Santa, at North Pole HOH OHO Canada. Letters must reach the post office before Dec. 4, to receive a letter back, from Santa. It is that time of the year.

Daysland Arena has family skating from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday and then on Sunday afternoon. On Oct. 20 there was registration for pond or shinny hockey. At Providence Place, the carpet was relayed this week, in the Solarium and the heat is on. Rev. Kathleen Taylor took the church Service for Brian Wolbeck who was unable to come. Bingo was held on Thursday night due to Oktoberfest on Friday.

The Town of Daysland has been replacing old water and sewer lines on 47 and 48th

Streets south of Reist Drive (51 Ave.) It is ready to be resurfaced and 48th should be completed if the weather holds.

On Oct. 17, on the TV program the 2009 Call of the Tundra. There were five competing of who would catch the longest fish. The winner would get to drive a new Toyota truck home. And the winner was Adrian Tabler of Camrose with a fish that measured 231.5 cm or 23 and a half inches.

On Oct. 13, Eugene Robert Yarcma of Daysland passed away at the age of 78 years. He was born on Feb. 2, 1931 on the farm north of town and in 1958 he married Irene Bilyk. They had one daughter Sonia. They move into Daysland in 1985, where he was caretaker of the Daysland cemetery for 18 years. His wife Irene, his daughter Sonia and his brother Julian survive Eugene. On Oct. 17, Divine Liturgy was held in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Daysland, with Rev. Greg Faryna officiating. Interment followed in the Koperoick Cemetery.

On Oct. 15, Frances Leeb of Camrose, formerly of Heisler and Daysland passed away at the age of 99 years. Her three daughters, Doreen and John, Gwen and

Burial was held Oct. 15, from St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Camrose.

Joe Adams of Daysland and Edmonton passed away on Oct. 15 at the age of 62 years.

Joe was born at Drumheller, on April 28, 1947, a son of Joseph and Florence Adams, until they moved to Forestburg, in 1957. He married Alice Seiferman on Aug. 31, 1968. They moved to Daysland in 1975, where Joe operated a welding business for 18 years. He volunteered for the fire department, town councillor, minor hockey coach and played hockey with North Stars and Nighthawks. His wife Alice, four sons Jay and Holly (manager at Providence Place), Rick and Carol, Doug and Tasha, and Kevin and Jenelle, six grandchildren and two sister Bonnie Adams and Wendy and Ron Markovich of Daysland, survive him. His parents Joseph and Florence Adams (formerly of Providence Place) one brother Robert, three grandchildren, daughter-in-law Staci Adams and his in laws Joe and Cyrilla Seiferman, predeceased Joe. Mass of Christian Burial was held form Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church, Daysland with Celebrant Rev. Leon Kler.

Interment followed in the Drumheller cemetery.
