Strong showing at track provincials

Camrose-area high schools were well-represented at the Alberta School Athletics Association Track and Field Championships this spring. 

 

École Camrose Composite High School’s Taylor Schultz placed second in girl’s high jump, in addition to placing ninth in the girls' intermediate 4x100 metre relay with the central zone team with Havana Batke, Hayley Stokowski and Jenna Sand. The central zone team finished with a time of 54.88 seconds. Also from ÉCCHS, Chanelle Bauer finished sixth in the girl’s junior 400 m dash with a time of 1:05.46 and fifth in girls' junior 800 m run with a time of 2:27.32; and Keegan Goba placed 12 in the senior boys' 800g javelin, with a 36.28 m throw.  

From Our Lady of Mount Pleasant Catholic School, Hayley Stowkowski placed 10th in girl’s intermediate triple jump at 9.52 m, as well as finishing ninth in the girls' intermediate 4x100 m relay with the central zone team; and Cody Bell placed 10th in the boy’s intermediate long jump with a jump of 5.82 m and finished ninth in the boy’s 300 m hurdles with a time of 42.83.  

Hay Lakes School’s Dana Sych placed eighth in girl’s junior 3,000 m run junior with a time of 11:51.62. 

From New Norway School, Camryn Fines jumped 1.40 m in the senior girls' high jump, placing 11th; and Cale Steeves finished 13th in the senior boy’s 1,500 m run with a time of 4:55.96. 

Forestburg School’s Janessa Walker placed sixth in the girl’s intermediate1 kg discuss throw, with a 28.30 m throw.
