Chamber unveils Business Awards Gala nominations

The Camrose Chamber of Commerce unveiled their nominees for the 33rd Annual Business Awards Gala at their monthly Chamber lunch on Oct. 4. 

 

This year there are 34 nominees in seven different categories. 

For Home Based Business (three employees or less) Cute and Classy Cakes, Rose City Tinting, Lakeway Boarding Kennels, and Fawn Interiors all got the nod. 

For Small Business (zero to 24 employees), Bra Necessities, Rio’s Spa, Directions for Wellness, Inspiration Salon and Spa, Camrose Soap Shop, McTavish Deliveries, and the Unique Boutique Downtown were all nominated. 

Nominees for Business Excellence/Franchise (25-plus employees) are Perma-Pipe Canada, Staples, Nutec Electro Tel, and Pizza Hut. 

Community Spirit (Not for Profit) nominees are Learning Together ECD Program (Judith Mazankowski), Kiwanis Club (Sandra Duke), Scotia Bank (Corry Peak), and the Camrose Public Library (Deb Cryderman). 

Customer Service (Individual) nominees are Terry Adaire (A&W Camrose), Jim Donnelly (Home Hardware), Tiffany Gaumont (ATB), Mike Ploner (Camrose Booster), Jill Gaalaas (Central Agencies), and Sandra Howard (Boston Pizza). 

There are four up for Women in Business (Individual), Rhonda Noonan (Fringe Benefits), Glenda Beagle (Marlin Travel), Tish Olsen (Tish’s Fashion), and Janice Duke (Park and Bite). 

For Ambassador (Individual) there are three contenders, Lucas Banack, Kevin Gurr, and Louise Jones. 

Banack has been at 98.1 CAM FM since 2006 and is currently the assistant program director/music director/morning show host/producer and is always out in the community promoting Camrose and local events. 

“Like all the celebrities say, it’s an honour to be nominated,” said Banack, who has been nominated for the first time. “There are tons of great people in this community who go above and beyond the call of duty, and it’s one of the many reasons I love living here. It is humbling to think someone thought I belonged alongside them.” 

The Chamber Business Awards Gala goes Oct. 19 at the Camrose Resort Casino. Cocktails are at 6 p.m. with dinner and awards at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available by emailing admina@camrosechamber.ca or by phoning 780-672-4217.
